1. Selection based on freeze drying area
The freeze drying area is one of the most important considerations when selecting a freeze dryer. The digital part of the freeze dryer model often represents the freeze drying area of the freeze dryer of this model. Users should determine the required freeze drying area size based on their actual needs through precise calculations. For example, in a food processing factory, if a certain amount of raw materials such as fruits and vegetables need to be freeze-dried on a large scale each time, a larger freeze drying area is required; while in a small laboratory, when freeze drying a small amount of biological samples or chemical reagents, a machine with a smaller freeze drying area can be selected. When calculating the freeze drying area, factors such as the amount of material, the area thickness of the material, and the single processing volume can be considered. If water is taken as an example, each batch needs to be freeze-dried 1.2 kg (liters), and the material is loaded with a material tray, and each tray is loaded with 10 mm thick, the load area of the freeze drying plate layer can be calculated by the corresponding volume and material stacking size.

2. Reference cold trap temperature selection
The cold trap is a key device for capturing moisture in the freeze drying process. The lower the cold trap temperature, the stronger the water capture capacity of the cold trap in theory. However, as the temperature of the cold trap decreases, the refrigeration requirements become higher, which will lead to an increase in machine costs and operating costs. In practical applications, freeze dryers with a cold trap temperature of -50℃ are suitable for some products that are easier to freeze-dry; freeze dryers with a cold trap temperature of about -60℃ can meet the freeze-drying needs of most products; for freeze-drying of some special products, freeze dryers with a cold trap temperature of -80℃ may be required. Experiments have shown that when the cold trap temperature drops from -35℃ to -55℃, the water capture capacity is significantly improved, but after the cold trap temperature is lower than -55℃, the increase in the water capture capacity of the cold trap is no longer significant, so when there are no special requirements, this feature can be used to make a balance between cost and performance requirements.

3. Consider the use scenario requirements
Industrial production scenario
If it is in a large-scale industrial production environment, such as a large food freeze-drying company or a pharmaceutical company, the freeze dryer has high requirements for processing capacity, stability, and automation. It is necessary to select a freeze dryer with large processing capacity, long-term stable operation, and a high degree of automation to facilitate large-scale production scheduling. The equipment structure should be more durable and adaptable to high-intensity continuous working mode. In addition, when the equipment fails, rapid maintenance and parts replacement should also be convenient and fast to reduce production losses caused by downtime.

For industrial production in some special industries, such as freeze-drying treatment involved in electronic component manufacturing, there may be special requirements for the cleanliness of the freeze dryer and its stability in a low-humidity environment. This requires the freeze dryer to have better environmental adaptability and fine control capabilities to ensure that the electronic components have ultra-high stability and reliability after freeze drying.

Laboratory research scenario
When using a freeze dryer in the laboratory, flexibility and precision are often more important. Because the laboratory's research samples are diverse and small in scale, the freeze dryer needs to adapt to the freeze-drying needs of different types of samples (such as cells, tissues, chemical reagents, etc.). For example, the machine needs to be able to adjust the freeze-drying temperature, pressure and other parameters in a wide range, and with high precision, so that scientific researchers can conduct experimental research under various conditions. And because the laboratory space is limited, the size of the machine is generally not too large, and the operation process should be relatively convenient.

Commercial application scenarios
In commercial application scenarios, such as some small enterprises freeze-drying specialty agricultural products or commercial production of freeze-dried cosmetics, in addition to considering processing capacity and equipment costs, it is also necessary to consider the impact of equipment on product appearance, taste, etc. The equipment must be able to ensure that the product quality meets the needs of the commercial market, such as ensuring that the freeze-dried agricultural products maintain good color and flavor, and the freeze-dried cosmetics meet the market standards for appearance, stability, etc.

4.pay attention to brand and after-sales
Brand reputation
Choosing a freeze dryer with good brand reputation can ensure the quality, performance and reliability of the equipment. Many well-known brands have strict standards in terms of technology research and development investment, production process control, quality inspection, etc. For example, internationally renowned brands often have a long history of development and have accumulated rich technical experience. The products they produce have been tested by different users and markets around the world and have high reliability.

After-sales service
As a complex mechanical equipment, the freeze dryer will inevitably fail or require maintenance during use. Therefore, good after-sales service is essential. The after-sales team can provide timely equipment installation and commissioning, technical training, and respond quickly when the equipment fails, providing effective maintenance support services.
