Cultural relics are a historical testimony of a country and region. With the development of large-scale infrastructure construction in China, how to protect unearthed cultural relics is an urgent problem to be solved. The freeze-drying method has been widely used in the fields of food and biological material preservation, pharmaceuticals, ultrafine powder preparation, etc. by removing water by turning water into ice and then sublimating the ice.
Wood or bamboo artifacts that are generally unearthed are generally rich in moisture and are soft and fragile due to long-term burial in soil layers with high water content.
By using a freeze-drying machine, the low-temperature freeze-drying method can effectively prevent the occurrence of shrinkage, cracking, and breakage. Most of the cultural relics were also dehydrated and shaped, and a large number of cultural relics were successfully protected and repaired.
