Application Of High Pressure Homogenizer In Graphene

   Graphene is a two-dimensional material composed of a single layer of carbon atoms. It has become a popular and popular functional material due to its excellent electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity and hardness.

The problem of difficult dispersion of graphene is the biggest resistance to the development of graphene applications.


Dispersant and surfactant selection: Generally, the dispersant used for the preparation of graphene dispersion is water, NMP, DMF, and the surfactant and carbon nanotube surfactant can be classified into one direction: PVP , SDS, SDBS, etc. Most researchers do not add too much surfactant, but insufficient surfactant will affect product stability, so the general addition amount is 0.5-1%, most of which is about 0.5%.

Experimental equipment: high pressure homogenizer Scientz-150, chiller, shear


Shear solvent: pure water solid content: 1-2% surfactant: (PVP)


Experimental conditions: In the case of shearing with a shearing machine, the powder was added to pure water, and after the ratio was reached, the shearing was continued for 30-50 min. After the graphene solution has a low viscosity, it is treated ten times with a high pressure homogenizer at 1500 bar.


Experimental purpose: Disperse graphene agglomerated into small or single layer graphene, and can be stably stored


Experimental steps:


1. After the water is weighed, the water phase is sheared with a shearer and the surfactant is added.


2. Gradually add the weighed graphene powder to the water. After the addition is completed, continue to cut for about 50 minutes.


3. After observing that the viscosity of the solution is significantly reduced, start homogenization.

Experimental phenomena:


1. After the addition of graphene powder, continuous shearing can reduce the viscosity of graphene solution, which indicates that high-speed shearing machine can help the dispersion of graphene dispersion.


2. After the high pressure is homogenized once, the viscosity of the sample increases obviously, and after the graphene is dispersed, the volume increases.


3. After the final homogenization is completed, the surface of the sample has a certain degree of shininess and brightness, and the smear-coating experiment has no visible particles.
